At the heart of Sassy Sundae is a simple but powerful ethos: a deep love of pups, a desire to indulge them, and a belief that they deserve the same joy and tenderness we wish for ourselves. We believe in authenticity, always—with a generous sprinkle of whimsy. After all, isn’t there something deliciously whimsical about buying a luxury necklace for your pup? Et pourquoi pas, chers amis?
For our Spring/Summer 2025 collection, we collaborated with our talented partners in California to design fresh new Puplaces that radiate sunshine and spirit. The Paris Collection features bold, vibrant colors—each piece fine-tuned through three rounds of prototyping to get them just right. The Charleston and Havana are both now offered in silver-toned chains, bringing a new touch of elegance to the line.
When it came time to photograph these pieces, we turned to the best models we know: our dog friends and their devoted humans. What better way to showcase authenticity than in real community settings—local shops, walking trails, the town center, a hidden garden, and even behind town hall?
Our official pup-paw-razzi, Lorraine Haan-Stewart, mom to seven rescues and countless fosters, brought her signature eye and gentle touch to every session. Lorraine is humble (and British), so she won’t tell you how acclaimed she is—but we will. She’s a gifted whisperer of pups and people alike… she even managed to get me to sit for a few photos! (And yes, her Photoshop magic is unmatched.)
Tuesday's Session: Sundae & Leo
We kicked off with Miss Sundae herself and her bestie, Prince Leo the pampered poodle. A huge thank you to Leo, his mom Amanda, and Mr. Don of Juice Junkies in Keller, TX. Not only did Mr. Don let us shoot at the shop, he whipped up coconut milk pup cups topped with strawberries and bananas—and even helped wrangle the pups. Leo, in Lorraine’s words, was “an absolute gem.” (I agree!)
Miss Sundae, on the other hand… well, let’s just say she does what she wants, when she wants. (AHEM.)
Amanda, who owns Bubbly Paws in Keller—Sundae’s beloved spaw—has been a fierce supporter of Sassy Sundae from the very beginning. The entire team there keeps Miss Sassafras sashay-ready, and we are endlessly grateful for their support and sparkle.
For public appearances, Prince Leo wears his Newbury Puplace with regal flair. Naturally.
Saturday Marathon: Elsa Mae, Stella & Cole
Saturday was a whirlwind of wagging tails, pup kisses and gorgeous light. First up: Stephen and his pup Elsa Mae, joined by her cousin Stella and her baby human brother, Cole.
Stephen and his family have supported Sundae (and me) since day one—in fact, he made the very first Puplace purchase for Elsa Mae. Elsa Mae and I have a special bond. She’s usually a well-trained girl, but when she sees me, she forgets all the rules, stands on her hind legs, places her paws on my shoulders, and gives me kisses.
Elsa Mae was a dream during the shoot, and when she felt we’d captured enough, she let us know—with a bark and a “chat.” Miss Lorraine had ham and Scottish cheddar at the ready, but Elsa Mae and Stella were naturals.
Sweet Cole, at just 16 months old, is already a seasoned model. With a nap, snack, and cool breeze thanks to his amazing grandmother (“Kiki”), he arrived camera-ready. His parents, Preston and Alli, were gracious enough to lend him to us—and thanks to Lorraine’s skill and Cole’s charm, we captured magic in a matter of moments.
As for Stella—what a delight. A natural blonde dachshund with a heart of gold. Known for being a bit headstrong, doxies can be tricky on set… but not Stella. She was mellow, cheerful, and all-around agreeable.
Final Shoot: Bruce the Lab
Our last session featured Bruce, a stunning black Lab, and his athletic mom, Corissa. Bruce lives just down the street and wears the Havana Puplace like royalty. With his thick, glossy coat and regal stance, he had no trouble showing off two Puplaces at once; the 2-inch clasp looked particularly striking on him.
Bruce and Corissa are serious runners, logging double-digit miles daily. To capture their energy and connection, we shot along the walking trails in our neighborhood. In their backyard Bruce has his very own dais. From that perch, he keeps watch for squirrels… and his girlfriend, Sundae. (She plays hard to get, of course, after allowing him a kiss or two.)
