The Hearts Behind Sassy Sundae: A Journey of Love, Loss, and Purpose
In 2016, I unexpectedly became a devoted dog parent, a role I never imagined for myself. One Sunday, fate introduced me to Jitterbug, a soulful-eyed beagle who insisted on adopting me. Despite my initial hesitation, her charm was undeniable, and she became the center of my world for 6 ½ years. Estimated to be 8 years old when we met, Jitterbug softened my heart, made me more patient, and brought endless joy. Her peaceful passing in 2022 was as serene as her presence had been in my life.
Even after crossing the Rainbow Bridge, Jitterbug found ways to reach out—through unexpected reminders like TV ads, nostalgic songs, and even ice cream flavors referencing our time together. Just two and a half weeks later, she sent me Sundae, a unique mix of basset hound and terrier. While Jitterbug was a regal queen, Miss Sundae is a lively, sassy spirit who fills my days with laughter and love.
