Perfections of Mommy & Me

Humans are an excellent source of entertainment for us doggies, especially during this time of year. They have these big ideas and make pronouncements about what they call “resolutions” – behaviors they’ll put into action to bring about positive changes in the new year. Why do humans act like a flock of sheep one following along the same path?

Mommy says that resolve works once she’s saturated and totally fed up with something. Rarely do these events coincide with a new year. For change to happen, the individual must be completely over the current situation and have burning desire for change so strongly that actions are taken, and hard work is done to make it so.

During morning walkies today, I sniffed some boulders to get the skinny on what my
fellow pups in the neighborhood think. We have excellent social media platforms that aren’t dependent on apps, being online or capturing a signal. It’s all about decoding deposits with our noses. Our noses know…a lot. The consensus is that we pups don’t make resolutions. We don’t even think about them, because we are already PERFECT.

I am conveying all of this so my Mommy can tap it all on her box. My internal clock tells me that it’s naptime for Mommy and me. In a few moments, I’m going to tap her forearm with my left paw – gentle at first, escalating to intensity, conveying insistence. Then I’ll jump onto the couch, put my front paws on her thigh, sit and firmly stick my head between her upper arm and chest so I can nuzzle her cheek and give kisses. This is the firmest way I know to get her to stop what she is doing and get with the program –which is naptime.

We pups will continue to support our humans. This is the normal course of what we do – no resolve or resolutions necessary.
